The judicial commission investigating the death of Wafflix owner Mir Raza Ali has formally concluded its proceedings after recording statements from key witnesses, including a CPLC official and the investigating officer.
Commission Chairman Justice Omar Sial issued the concluding order after the statements of CPLC witnesses Kashif Iftikhar and Taha Pracha and Investigating Officer DSP Siraj Lashari were considered during the proceedings.
A K-Electric representative also appeared before the commission on behalf of the company’s managing director and submitted a sealed envelope, which was taken into the official record.
Justice Sial thanked all witnesses, lawyers, government officials and journalists who participated in the proceedings. He particularly acknowledged the cooperation of Sindh Chief Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar.
The commission chairman also praised the family of Mir Raza Ali for showing patience and dignity throughout the proceedings. He appreciated the assistance provided by Barrister Jibran Nasir and other lawyers representing the family and witnesses.
Justice Sial also recognised the role of journalists who regularly attended the hearings and reported on the proceedings. He specifically appreciated investigative reporting that helped bring relevant information before the commission.
The commission’s official email and WhatsApp accounts have now been deactivated. The Rs100,000 reward announced earlier in connection with the case has also been withdrawn.
Justice Sial further requested the Sindh government to consider awarding the commission’s staff a bonus equivalent to two basic salaries in recognition of their work and long hours.
The commission was formed to examine the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s alleged kidnapping and subsequent death, with the proceedings focusing on evidence and information related to the case. With witness statements completed and its communication channels closed, the judicial commission has now formally ended its proceedings.
