TransPeshawar has made NADRA-based biometric verification and registration compulsory for all Zu cards used to travel on the Zu Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. Passengers must complete the process by December 31, 2026 to continue using their cards.

According to TransPeshawar unregistered cards will be blocked from January 1, 2027 and will no longer be valid for travel. Passengers are therefore being advised to register their cards before the deadline to avoid disruption to their daily journeys.

Registration facilities are available at ticket counters at all BRT stations during station operating hours. Passengers must bring their original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and Zu card. Station staff will enter the required information and complete the biometric verification and registration process.

TransPeshawar Chief Executive Officer Dr Syed Murtaza Asghar Bukhari said the initiative aims to strengthen system security by verifying passenger identities and ensuring more organised travel.

The process also applies to passengers under the age of 18 although alternative registration arrangements are available. Minors can register their Zu cards using their B-Form or a parent’s or guardian’s CNIC.

For registration through a B-Form, the child must provide the B-Form and Zu card and undergo biometric verification. If a parent’s or guardian’s CNIC is used the adult’s original identity card the child’s Zu card and the parent or guardian’s presence for biometric verification are required.

Foreign passengers can continue travelling on the Zu Peshawar system by using the Zu app or purchasing a single-journey ticket. The reported registration fee for a Zu card is Rs10.

TransPeshawar has urged passengers to complete registration well before the deadline to avoid long queues at registration counters and possible inconvenience when travelling.

With the deadline approaching at the end of December cardholders should check their registration status and ensure they have the necessary documents before visiting a BRT station.
