LAHORE: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to intensify action against human trafficking rings and illegal hawala-hundi networks, calling for a comprehensive crackdown on the entire criminal chain.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the FIA Zonal Office in Lahore on Wednesday, Naqvi assured the agency of continued government support and said additional resources would be provided to strengthen its operational capabilities.

The interior minister instructed FIA officials to step up action against organised criminal groups and ensure that investigations lead to concrete results. He emphasised that the agency must pursue those involved in criminal networks without discrimination.

The meeting also reviewed progress on the FIA Zonal Office Upgradation Project. Naqvi ordered authorities to accelerate the project so that improved infrastructure could strengthen the agency’s investigative and surveillance capabilities.

The FIA Lahore zonal director briefed the minister on the development project and the agency’s recent performance. According to the briefing, the FIA registered 1,670 first information reports over the past year, completed 4,000 of 5,000 inquiries and arrested 295 proclaimed offenders.

The meeting also approved the replacement of outdated surveillance cameras at immigration counters across the country’s airports. The move is aimed at improving monitoring and security at entry and exit points.
