Nasir Shah credits PPP’s public support to development work

Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) continues to gain public confidence because of its strong development record across the province.

Speaking during a session of the Sindh Assembly, Shah said the party increased its electoral strength over the years. He noted that the PPP secured more seats in the 2018 general elections than it did in 2013, despite what he described as serious attempts by political opponents to weaken the party. According to him, the PPP has expanded its representation in every election and expects to win even more seats in the next general polls.

Highlighting the provincial government’s performance, Shah pointed to several ongoing infrastructure and public welfare projects. He said the Azeem Pura Flyover was completed in just 94 days, calling it an example of the government’s commitment to delivering projects on time. He added that authorities continue to work on numerous development schemes across Karachi to improve transportation, public services, and urban infrastructure.

The minister also said the provincial government has made significant progress under its current development program. He stated that more than 1,000 development schemes have already reached completion, while many others are in their final stages and will soon benefit local communities.

Shah argued that these achievements played a major role in earning public support for the PPP. He also praised the country’s prime minister, saying the nation now has a leader who is focused on delivering practical results.

Discussing local governance, Shah said Sindh has empowered its local government system with meaningful administrative authority. He added that local councils have successfully completed several development projects, while claiming that local government institutions in Punjab still lack comparable powers under the existing legal framework.
