Islamabad: The National Assembly has unanimously adopted resolution to express profound grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of innocent infant lives in the recent fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.

The Resolution, further, called upon the Government to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident, fix responsibility for any negligence or safety lapses, and take appropriate legal action against those found responsible. The House stressed that accountability must be ensured in cases where negligence or failure to observe prescribed safety measures has contributed to the loss of innocent lives.
The House also called upon the Government to ensure strict implementation of fire safety protocols and emergency preparedness measures in Federal Government hospitals, particularly in neonatal and paediatric units, so as to strengthen safety arrangements and prevent the recurrence of such tragic incidents in the future.
The House extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for strength and fortitude for them to bear this irreparable loss.
