According to official figures released by FIFA, a total of 281,223 fans attended four matches held on June 16 during the mega tournament.
This marks the highest-ever single-day attendance in FIFA World Cup history surpassing the previous record of 277,070 spectators set during the 1994 World Cup.
The matches featuring France, Senegal, Iraq, Norway, Argentina, Algeria, Austria and Jordan all recorded record-breaking attendance figures.
