Oasis are reportedly upset over plans to auction dozens of rare tape recordings. The archive includes concert footage and rehearsal sessions from their early years. Littleton Auctions listed the collection, gathered by former sound engineer Huw Richards. Richards worked closely with the band from 1994 through 2001.

The archive contains 63 concert recordings and over 100 hours of rehearsals. It also features private, unfiltered conversations between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher. Organisers plan to auction the collection on October 3. Experts estimate its value between £1.2 million and £1.6 million.

According to The Times, tensions have grown around the planned sale. Owain Richards, the engineer’s son, claims Oasis wants the material back. He said the band never wanted these tapes sold to outsiders. Instead, they reportedly hope to reclaim the entire archive themselves.

Notably, the collection includes a rare recording from a 1996 Loch Lomond concert. Fans consider this the only known recording of that historic performance. Littleton Auctions confirmed the band opposes the sale but called it legal. Managing director Ben Homer acknowledged the band’s concerns as understandable.

Owain Richards mentioned earlier talks with Oasis’s management about the tapes. Those discussions reportedly stalled and eventually faded without resolution. He explained that Oasis wants full control over where these tapes go. Any future buyer would still need the band’s permission to profit.

That is because Oasis retains all intellectual property rights over the material. Meanwhile, excitement around the band continues building ahead of new content. A documentary titled Don’t Look Back in Anger is set for release. Director Steven Knight filmed it during their massive 2025 reunion tour.

Noel and Liam appeared together at the Venice Film Festival this weekend. They attended the world premiere of their upcoming documentary there. Speculation is also growing about a possible 2027 tour announcement. A recent teaser posted online hinted at new dates and cities.
