The federal government has approved the import of 750,000 metric tonnes of wheat to strengthen domestic supplies and meet provincial requirements.
Following the approval, the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has invited international suppliers to submit bids for the purchase. The wheat will be imported on a cost-and-freight basis through Karachi and/or Gwadar ports.
The TCP said the wheat must come from the 2026 crop and meet all quality standards and specifications set out in the tender documents and Pakistan’s Import Policy Order.
International suppliers must offer at least 50,000 tonnes of wheat. Bids below this quantity will not be accepted.
The deadline for submitting bids is 11:30am on September 16, 2026. Technical bids will be opened at noon the same day at the TCP Board Room in Karachi. Suppliers or their authorised representatives will be allowed to attend the opening either physically or through Zoom.
The tender requires bidders to submit separate technical and financial bids in sealed envelopes. The documents must comply with the procurement conditions, including requirements relating to bid security, bid validity, evaluation, performance guarantees and possible rejection of bids.
The imported wheat will be distributed among provinces according to their requirements. Sindh will receive 300,000 tonnes, Punjab 250,000 tonnes and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 200,000 tonnes from the approved quantity.
