Pakistan, Bangladesh boost cybercrime cooperation

Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including efforts to tackle cybercrime and online fraud.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Salahuddin Ahmed, according to the Interior Ministry.

During the meeting, both ministers discussed expanding collaboration between law enforcement agencies. They also agreed to promote training programmes and exchange opportunities for police officials from both countries.

The two sides also held discussions on the ongoing US-Iran conflict and the evolving security situation in the Middle East.

Salahuddin Ahmed appreciated Pakistan’s role in supporting regional peace and stability. In response, Mohsin Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s efforts for peace and said there was a need to explore new opportunities to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Naqvi also emphasized the role of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir in promoting peace initiatives.

Earlier, the interior minister met United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The meeting covered regional developments, global challenges, and Pakistan’s role in international peace efforts. Discussions also focused on Pakistan’s mediation efforts to help resolve conflicts in West Asia and the country’s long-standing contribution to UN peacekeeping missions.

The UN chief appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace and supporting global stability.
