Pakistan launches ‘Operation Ghazb Lil Haq’, eliminates 29 terrorists in cross-border strikes

Pakistan’s security forces have carried out a major counterterrorism campaign under Operation Ghazb Lil Haq, killing 29 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based ground and precision strike operations targeting militant hideouts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In a statement shared on X, the Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the operation was launched in response to a series of recent terrorist attacks across the country. He said security forces first carried out an intelligence-based ground operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the operation, high-value militant commander Khan Farosh alias Zabal and three other terrorists associated with the Indian-backed Jamaat-ul-Ahrar were killed, while several militants were injured following what the minister described as a precise and well-executed engagement.

Tarar said the operation was followed by calibrated precision strikes carried out on the night of June 28 and 29 against terrorist camps and safe havens linked to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al-Khwarij in the border region. Three militant bases located in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar were destroyed, resulting in the deaths of 25 more terrorists.

He added that large quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the targeted hideouts were also destroyed during the strikes.

The information minister reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region but will not compromise on the safety and security of its citizens. He emphasized that the country’s counterterrorism efforts will continue to eliminate militant threats and safeguard national security.

The government reaffirmed that Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability but stressed that the protection of its citizens will remain its foremost priority.

Officials also reiterated that the country’s nationwide counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue with full force to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism and ensure lasting security across Pakistan.
