The US International Development Finance Corporation has expressed its intention to increase investments in Pakistan. The announcement came during a high-level meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The meeting was held to discuss ways to deepen economic cooperation between Pakistan and the United States. Present at the meeting were DFC CEO Benjamin Black, DFC Head of Investments Conor Coleman, and other senior officials of the agency.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised DFC for its role in fostering economic partnerships. He highlighted the agency’s support for joint projects with private sector participation. He said DFC’s involvement is crucial for accelerating development in Pakistan.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of increasing financing in strategic sectors. These include energy, mining and minerals, agriculture, and information technology. He noted that such support could help boost economic growth and create jobs.

The Prime Minister also appreciated DFC’s existing portfolio in Pakistan, which exceeds $1 billion. He said it reflects the strong trust and cooperation between the two countries. He stressed that collaboration with DFC aligns with Pakistan’s economic priorities.

In addition, Shehbaz Sharif invited DFC to participate in the upcoming Minerals Conference in Islamabad in April. He said the event would provide an opportunity to explore further investments and strengthen bilateral economic ties.

During the meeting, Benjamin Black briefed the Prime Minister on DFC’s strategic initiatives. He shared details of the agency’s priorities and upcoming projects planned for Pakistan. Black highlighted DFC’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and public-private partnerships in the country.
