Pakistani freelancers’ earnings projected to hit $2.5 billion this Fiscal Year

Islamabad:Pakistan’s freelancing sector is witnessing rapid expansion, with *export earnings from freelancers estimated to exceed $2.5 billion* in the current fiscal year, according to the Pakistan Freelancers Association.

Speaking to media, *Ibrahim Amin, Founder & Chairman of the Pakistan Freelancers Association*, said Pakistan has emerged as the *world’s 4th fastest-growing freelancing market*.

He noted that in the *last fiscal year*, Pakistani freelancers recorded *$1.76 billion* in export earnings.

In *July 2026*, the first month of the current fiscal year, freelancers earned *$17 million* in export income.

The chairman added that the *number of Pakistani freelancers has now crossed 3 million*. With supportive government policies, he said, this number is expected to *grow further*, boosting Pakistan’s overall IT and IT-enabled services exports.

*Tax Relief Demanded for Educational Platforms*

Ibrahim Amin also urged the government to provide *tax relief for educational content creators on YouTube*.

He demanded either a *complete exemption or a reduction of the 5% tax* currently imposed on active educational platforms to *1%*.

“*Entertainment and educational platforms should not be placed in the same category*,” he said, adding that taxing educational channels at par with entertainment content discourages learning and skill development.

The association emphasized that the growth in freelancing is creating new job opportunities for youth and bringing valuable foreign exchange into the country.
