Pakistan’s US envoy urges diaspora to boost investment

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has called on Pakistani-Americans to play a greater role in strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and the US through investment, trade and business partnerships.

Addressing a community gathering in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area on Friday, Sheikh highlighted Pakistan’s investment potential and urged the Pakistani-American community to take advantage of improving relations between the two countries.

He said Pakistani-Americans were uniquely positioned to connect businesses and investors in both countries. Their professional expertise, business networks and longstanding ties with Pakistan could help expand economic cooperation and create opportunities for mutual growth.

The ambassador emphasised the importance of developing sustainable business partnerships and increasing bilateral trade and investment. He also highlighted the information technology sector as an important area for cooperation, encouraging the community to help showcase Pakistan’s business opportunities to American investors.

Sheikh reaffirmed the Pakistani embassy’s commitment to facilitating stronger engagement between Pakistani and American businesses. He encouraged community members to work collectively to promote investment, strengthen commercial links and support mutually beneficial economic initiatives.

He also acknowledged the Pakistani-American community’s longstanding contribution to relations between the two countries, describing its role as an important bridge between Pakistan and the United States.

The event brought together representatives of major Pakistani-American organisations from the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. Participants welcomed the ambassador’s engagement and appreciated the embassy’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.

Community representatives also expressed their gratitude to the Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles for facilitating consular services for Pakistanis living in the region.

The ambassador’s appeal comes amid efforts to deepen Pakistan-US economic cooperation, with investment, technology and private-sector partnerships offering potential avenues for expanding commercial relations.
