Pervaiz Elahi turns to LHC over allegations of polling agent harassment

The former Chief Minister of Punjab and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, has taken legal action by approaching the Lahore High Court (LHC) to address the issue of harassment faced by polling agents and voters during the by-elections.

In the appeal filed by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the Election Commission, Gujrat police, and others have been named as involved parties.

The appeal highlights that the applicant is a candidate in the PP-32 by-elections and expresses concerns about the harassment faced by the applicant’s supporters, family members, and lawyers. It is stated that the returning officer, police, and rival candidates are involved in supporting these acts. The appeal
points out that the opponent candidate’s election campaign in the constituency, led by Provincial Minister Shafay Hussain, is in violation of the code of conduct and election laws.

The appeal requests the court to intervene and put an end to the harassment of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s supporters, polling agents, and others involved in the electoral process.
