Pete Davidson faces backlash as Olivia O’Brien speaks out

Pete Davidson is facing renewed criticism after singer-songwriter Olivia O’Brien publicly discussed their alleged relationship and accused the comedian of moving on with another famous woman without properly ending things with her.

O’Brien made the comments in response to an Instagram post discussing Davidson’s recent remarks about female influencers. Her response quickly attracted attention as she recalled what she claimed happened between the pair in 2020.

The singer said she was dating Davidson at the time and only discovered that their relationship had ended after seeing reports that he had gone public with another well-known woman.

“I was dating him in 2020 and found out we were no longer together by seeing on Snapchat Daily Mail that he went public with a more famous woman,” O’Brien wrote in the comments.

She then described Davidson in harsh terms, calling the situation frustrating and suggesting that she felt he had treated their relationship poorly.

O’Brien also responded to another person who questioned how Davidson could have found the time to start seeing someone else. She claimed the two had been in frequent contact and spent a lot of time communicating when they were apart.

According to O’Brien, they were texting throughout the day and would sometimes fall asleep while talking to each other on FaceTime. Her comments suggested that she believed their connection was much more serious than Davidson’s representatives later indicated.

The renewed discussion comes after Davidson faced criticism over comments he made about female influencers during a recent interview. While speaking about social media culture, the comedian appeared particularly critical of women who create content on platforms such as OnlyFans and TikTok.

Davidson said he found some influencer content frustrating and questioned the purpose of certain videos in which women share parts of their daily routines. He also described some TikTok dance trends as “insane and lame.”

His remarks quickly sparked debate online, with some people criticizing the comedian for his comments about women and social media creators.

The controversy has now brought renewed attention to Davidson’s past relationship with O’Brien.

O’Brien previously discussed their alleged romance during a 2022 appearance on the BFFs podcast. She said the two briefly dated in October 2020 and claimed Davidson ended their relationship through a text message.

According to O’Brien, Davidson told her that he was seeing someone else and could no longer continue their relationship. Shortly afterward, he began dating Bridgerton actress Phoebe Dynevor, which reportedly led O’Brien to believe that she had been replaced by another famous woman.

However, Davidson’s representative later disputed the singer’s account. His representative said the two were never officially in a relationship and described them as friends who had spent time together on several occasions.

O’Brien later attempted to clarify her comments on social media. She said she had never claimed to officially date anyone and suggested that her remarks had been misunderstood or taken out of context.

Despite the conflicting accounts, the subject has resurfaced as Davidson once again finds himself at the center of online discussion about his relationships and comments about women.

The latest controversy also comes after Davidson’s breakup with Elsie Hewitt. The former couple reportedly ended their relationship in May, around five months after the birth of their daughter, Scottie Rose.
