PIMS MCH Centre gets Rs1.06bn budget for FY2026-27

Details of the budget allocated to the Mother and Child Healthcare (MCH) Centre at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for the fiscal year 2026-27 have been released, showing a significant increase from the previous year.

According to the budget documents, Rs1.0694 billion has been allocated to the MCH Centre for the new fiscal year, compared with Rs855.6 million allocated during the previous financial year.

The allocation covers salaries, employee allowances, operational expenses, maintenance, equipment, infrastructure, pensions and other requirements of the healthcare facility.

The documents show that Rs11 million has been earmarked for the repair and maintenance of the MCH Centre. Another Rs7 million has been allocated for machinery and equipment, while Rs4 million has been set aside for the building and structural requirements of the centre.

A major portion of the budget has been allocated for employee salaries. The documents show that Rs356.9 million has been earmarked for salaries of MCH Centre employees. Of this amount, Rs200 million has been allocated for officers’ salaries, while Rs156.5 million has been reserved for other staff members.

In addition to salaries, Rs332.7 million has been allocated for employees’ allowances, making staff-related expenses one of the largest components of the centre’s overall budget.

The MCH Centre has also received Rs270 million for operational expenses. These funds are intended to meet the day-to-day running costs of the healthcare facility and support the provision of services to mothers and children.

The budget further includes Rs6 million for pensions of retired employees and Rs8.5 million for scholarships. Another Rs6 million has been allocated for stores, stock, plant and machinery.

Overall, the budget allocation reflects an increase of around Rs213.8 million compared with the previous financial year, as the government has set aside additional funds for the MCH Centre’s salaries, allowances, operations and other requirements.
