Three people were injured when an explosive material allegedly carried on a motorcycle detonated near the Khanuzai area of Pishin district in Balochistan. The explosion occurred along a national highway, causing severe injuries, including the loss of limbs of two victims, while one person remains in critical condition.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Khanuzai Naseebullah, the injured individuals were transporting explosive material reportedly used in chromite mining operations when the blast took place during transit. The sudden explosion caused widespread panic in the area, and emergency responders were immediately called to the scene.
Police said the injured have been identified as Zohar son of Abdul Fayaz, Faisal son of Talib, and Muhammad Afzal son of Talib. Initial medical assistance was provided at a nearby health facility before all three were shifted to Quetta for advanced treatment due to the severity of their injuries.
Officials confirmed that two of the victims sustained critical injuries, including amputations of their feet, while the third injured person is said to be in a serious condition and under close medical observation.
Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact nature of the explosive material, its source, and whether safety regulations were followed during its transportation. Police are also examining whether negligence or violation of safety procedures contributed to the explosion.
The incident has raised concerns over the handling and transportation of explosive substances in mining-related activities, particularly in remote areas where regulatory oversight is limited. Authorities have reiterated that strict compliance with safety laws is essential to prevent such dangerous accidents in the future.
Further investigation is underway, and officials have assured that all aspects of the case will be thoroughly examined. More details are expected as the inquiry progresses and medical reports of the injured are received.
