PM Shehbaz says Ashura teaches humanity faith, sacrifice and justice

The prime minister said the tragedy of Karbala demonstrates that adherence to principles and values forms the foundation of a dignified society.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his message on the occasion of Ashura said the day carries profound lessons for humanity, reminding people of faith, patience, sacrifice and commitment to truth.

In a statement from Islamabad, he said Ashura recalls the divine support for believers and the triumph of truth through the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his loyal companions, which gave the day eternal significance in Islamic history.

The prime minister said the tragedy of Karbala demonstrates that adherence to principles and values forms the foundation of a dignified society. Imam Hussain (RA) proved that sacrificing for truth is superior to bowing before falsehood.

He added that Karbala represents the revival of the Prophet’s (PBUH) traditions and the mission of enjoining good and forbidding evil, which demands justice, patience and tolerance in both individual and collective lives.

Shehbaz Sharif urged citizens to replace division and hatred with mutual respect and harmony. He appealed to scholars, clerics and speakers to highlight the true message of Ashura, promote inter-sectarian unity and prevent provocation and discord.

He called on the nation to pledge to strengthen commitment to justice and protect the rights of the weak and marginalized, guided by the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala.

The prime minister concluded by saying Pakistanis must build a strong, united and peaceful nation through their character and actions, praying for global peace, stability and unity of the Muslim Ummah.
