A policeman was martyred and another sustained critical injuries in an encounter that ensued near village

SUJAWAL: A policeman was martyred and another sustained critical injuries in an encounter that ensued near village Majeed Otho within the limits of Chuhar Jamali police station on Friday morning.

According to a spokesman for the SSP office Sujawal, police received information regarding the presence of armed miscreants in village Majeed Otho. Following the tip-off, the police sprang into action, leading to an exchange of fire between the police team and the miscreants. As a result, two constables, Wajid Somro and Ghulam Mustafa Chawro, were critically injured.

The injured policemen were first taken to the Basic Health Unit Chuhar Jamali and were later shifted to Civil Hospital Thatta for further treatment, where Constable Wajid Somro succumbed to his wounds.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sujawal, Alina Rajpar, reached Civil Hospital Thatta shortly after the incident. She expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of Constable Wajid Somro and inquired after the condition of the injured policeman, who was stated to be stable.

Speaking on the occasion, the SSP said that the sacrifice of the martyred cop would not go in vain. She added that an operation was underway against the miscreants and that police had laid siege to the village.

After medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased constable was shifted to his ancestral village, Imam Bux Somro, near Daro town, for burial.
