Priyanka Chopra Jonas has generated widespread excitement after the makers of director SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi unveiled the first official look of her character, Mandakini, on her birthday.

The film’s production team released two striking posters featuring the actress in contrasting appearances, giving audiences a glimpse of her role in the much-anticipated adventure drama.

One poster presents Priyanka in a dark corset-style outfit with smoky eye makeup, a messy hairstyle and an intense expression, highlighting a bold and mysterious side of her character.

The second image offers a completely different look. The actress appears in a casual white crop top, beige overshirt and black cargo trousers while posing against a scenic landscape filled with wildlife, reflecting a more adventurous and free-spirited personality.

The production team described Mandakini as a fearless globetrotter who combines strength, vulnerability and determination throughout the story.

The newly released posters quickly attracted attention across social media, with fans praising Priyanka’s transformation and calling her latest appearance one of her most powerful screen looks in recent years.

Many users expressed excitement over her return to Indian cinema and said the posters had further raised expectations for the film.

Earlier, Priyanka had shared that she had been working on Varanasi for more than a year. She described the project as a large-scale global adventure involving travel across different places and time, adding that the film features several action-packed sequences.

Director SS Rajamouli also wished the actress on her birthday by sharing one of the posters and praising her portrayal of Mandakini. Co-stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran also extended birthday greetings while expressing their excitement about the project.

Varanasi marks Rajamouli’s first directorial venture since the global success of RRR. The film features Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in leading roles and is expected to combine mythology, adventure and science fiction elements.

The project also marks Priyanka Chopra’s return to a major Indian film after several years of focusing on international productions. The film is currently in production and is scheduled for release in April 2027.
