Islamabad – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that the fault in the international internet submarine cable has been repaired and internet services across the country are now operating without interruption.
On Thursday, users in several cities across Pakistan reported slow internet speeds and connectivity issues.
According to the internet outage monitoring platform Downdetector, internet services were affected in multiple cities causing significant inconvenience to users.
Earlier, the PTA had stated that it was continuously monitoring disruptions caused by a fault in the SEA-ME-WE 5 (SMW5) international submarine cable system. The authority warned that the issue could result in intermittent degradation of internet service quality and connectivity for some users.
The PTA has now confirmed that the fault in the SMW5 submarine cable has been successfully resolved. As a result, internet traffic has returned to normal and uninterrupted internet services have been restored across Pakistan.
