PTI conference demands withdrawal of cases against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi

ISLAMABAD: A PTI consultative conference on Sunday unanimously adopted a resolution demanding the withdrawal of what it described as “fabricated and politically motivated cases” against party founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

The resolution called for protecting the independence and dignity of the judiciary and ensuring Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s constitutional and financial rights.

The participants also demanded that the province’s electoral mandate be respected and its three per cent share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award be released. They further called for the fulfilment of the government’s commitments to the merged districts.

The conference sought compensation for farmers who, according to the participants, had suffered losses of around Rs900 billion amid the ongoing wheat crisis.

PTI leaders, members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, senators and other party office-bearers from across the country attended the conference.

The participants discussed the prevailing political situation, supremacy of the Constitution and law, judicial independence, the situation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, rights of the merged districts, the province’s NFC share and the wheat crisis.

PTI central leader Asad Qaiser presented the resolution, which was unanimously approved by the participants.

The resolution demanded the immediate withdrawal of all cases against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, along with an end to what the party termed political victimisation.

Expressing concern over what it described as “disrespect” for Supreme Court decisions and the dignity of the judiciary, the participants called for pending contempt of court proceedings before the Supreme Court to be pursued in accordance with the law.

They also demanded action against those found responsible for undermining the dignity of the courts, stressing that the independence and authority of the judiciary must be protected.
