LAHORE: The Punjab Auqaf Department has accelerated preparations for the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (Hazrat Ali Hajveriؒ), with authorities reviewing security, civic services and administrative arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe experience for millions of devotees expected to attend the spiritual gathering.
Secretary and Chief Administrator Auqaf Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, led a high-level inspection of the Data Darbar shrine, accompanied by senior officials from the district administration, police, traffic police, municipal authorities and utility departments. The visit focused on assessing the readiness of facilities and ensuring effective coordination among all departments involved in the event.
During the inspection, officials reviewed entry and exit points, parking arrangements, pedestrian access, Sabeel and Langar distribution areas, and other public amenities established for pilgrims arriving from across Pakistan and abroad. Authorities also examined crowd management measures, traffic diversion plans and arrangements for Samaa gatherings to maintain order and facilitate the smooth movement of visitors throughout the celebrations.
The delegation inspected ongoing development work around the shrine, including infrastructure improvements and accessibility upgrades designed to accommodate the expected influx of devotees during the Urs.
Dr. Bhutta directed all relevant departments to maintain close coordination, ensure uninterrupted public services and uphold the highest standards of security and administrative efficiency throughout the event. He emphasised that the annual Urs is one of the country’s most significant spiritual gatherings and requires meticulous planning to provide pilgrims with a safe, comfortable and well-organised environment.
