Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has opened up about the two people he has always found difficult to look in the eye while speaking. Interestingly, the list includes his late father, legendary actor Rishi Kapoor, and Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan. The actor recently shared these personal memories during an appearance on the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Ranbir appeared on the show alongside his Ramayana co-stars Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey as part of the promotional activities for their upcoming film. The episode featured an interesting conversation between Ranbir and host Amitabh Bachchan, during which the actor reflected on his childhood memories, admiration for Bollywood legends and personal experiences.
During their interaction, Amitabh asked Ranbir about his childhood and whether he remembered meeting him when he was young. Responding to the question, Ranbir recalled visiting the sets of the 1991 fantasy adventure film Ajooba, which featured both Amitabh Bachchan and his father, Rishi Kapoor.
The actor explained that he had grown up watching Amitabh on screen and was deeply impressed by his personality and commanding presence. He admitted that speaking directly to the veteran star had always made him feel somewhat nervous.
Sharing his feelings, Ranbir revealed that only two people in his life had made it difficult for him to maintain eye contact during conversations. He identified his late father as the first person and Amitabh Bachchan as the second.
The Animal actor told the veteran star, “I want to say that only two people have entered my life whom I cannot look in the eye while speaking. One was my father, and the other is you.”
Ranbir also praised Amitabh’s remarkable personality, suggesting that the actor had possessed the kind of magnetic presence that younger generations now describe using the popular internet expression ‘aura farming’.
Recalling his childhood experience on the sets of Ajooba, Ranbir remarked, “What the Gen Z calls ‘aura farming’ today, it all started with him.”
He further explained that Amitabh had a unique ability to command attention whenever he entered a room. His personality, confidence and screen presence had left a lasting impression on Ranbir, who had admired him since childhood.
The conversation also moved towards Ranbir’s personal life, particularly his marriage to actress Alia Bhatt. Amitabh Bachchan asked him about the qualities he considered most important in maintaining a successful relationship.
Responding thoughtfully, Ranbir explained that friendship played a significant role in his relationship with Alia. According to him, love, trust and respect were the foundations that helped two people maintain a strong and lasting connection.
He shared his relationship philosophy, saying, “I always believed that love connects a relationship, trust makes a relationship strong, and respect sustains a relationship.”
Ranbir also added a humorous touch to the discussion by mentioning the height difference between himself and Alia. He revealed that he sometimes imagined himself as Amitabh Bachchan and Alia as Jaya Bachchan, suggesting that their height difference could make their photographs look particularly charming.
Meanwhile, Ranbir is preparing for one of the biggest projects of his career, Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming mythological epic Ramayana. The actor will portray Lord Ram in the highly anticipated film, which features an impressive ensemble cast.
Sai Pallavi will appear as Sita, while Yash will portray the antagonist Ravana. Sunny Deol has been cast as Hanuman, and Rakul Preet Singh will play Surpanakha.
The ambitious project has generated considerable excitement among audiences, particularly because of its grand scale and popular cast. Ramayana is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 5, 2026, with audiences eagerly waiting to see Ranbir’s interpretation of the iconic mythological character.
