According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces successfully repelled the attack, killing three terrorists and capturing one injured attacker, who was identified as an Afghan national.
The military’s media wing stated that the attackers first detonated an explosive device at the camp’s main gate before attempting to breach the perimeter. Rangers personnel responded immediately, preventing the terrorists from entering the facility and limiting further damage.
Following the operation, security forces launched sanitisation operations in the surrounding area to ensure no additional militants were hiding nearby. The ISPR said the operation would continue until the area is completely cleared.
In its statement, the ISPR described the attackers as members of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and said the group carried out the assault as part of terrorist activities targeting Pakistan’s security forces. The military reaffirmed its commitment to continuing counter-terrorism operations under the national campaign aimed at eliminating militant threats across the country.
The ISPR also stated that Pakistan would undertake retribution operations against those responsible for planning and supporting the attack. Officials emphasized that such incidents would not weaken the resolve of the country’s security forces in maintaining peace and stability.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred Rangers personnel. He praised their bravery and sacrifice, saying their commitment strengthened the nation’s determination to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens.
The attack initially caused panic in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, where residents reported loud explosions and heavy gunfire. Police and law enforcement agencies quickly reached the scene and cordoned off nearby roads, including routes connecting Mosmiyat Chowrangi, Kamran Chowrangi, and Chaman Iqbal Colony to facilitate the security operation.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed senior police officials to submit a detailed report on the incident. Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also sought an immediate briefing from Karachi police authorities regarding the attack and the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have assured the public that security measures have been strengthened and investigations are underway to identify all individuals involved in planning and facilitating the attack.
