A tragic incident occurred in the Kahna area of Lahore where the roof of a tuition centre collapsed, leaving 14 children dead after being trapped under the debris.

According to rescue officials, reports suggest that more children may still be buried beneath the rubble, and rescue operations are continuing to recover those trapped.

Local residents said that the children had come to the tuition centre to attend classes at the time of the incident.

Rescue authorities stated that around 20 to 25 children and a female teacher were present inside the tuition centre when the roof collapsed. Officials fear that the death toll may rise as rescue efforts continue.

A spokesperson for Rescue Punjab said that emergency teams received information about the incident at approximately 4:45 pm. Most of the victims are young children who remain trapped under the debris, raising concerns that suffocation may lead to additional fatalities.

Police said that the number of children killed in the roof collapse in Kahna had reached eight at the time of their statement. Construction work was reportedly underway on the upper floor of the building while children were studying on the ground floor. Police have taken two individuals, including the owner of the building, into custody for investigation.
