Russia warns France, UK over Ukraine missile support

Russia has warned France and the United Kingdom against providing sensitive missile technology to Ukraine, saying such support could have unpredictable consequences and further escalate the conflict.

A spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry accused Paris and London of “playing with fire” by giving Ukraine access to sensitive missile technology. The spokesperson warned that the move could create consequences that may be difficult to control.

The warning comes after Britain and France announced additional military support for Ukraine on Monday. The package includes access to classified technology and efforts to speed up the delivery of air-defence missiles to Kyiv.

France has already indicated its willingness to license European missile technology to Ukraine, potentially allowing Ukrainian forces to gain access to advanced defence capabilities.

Moscow has repeatedly criticised Western military assistance to Ukraine, arguing that the continued supply of weapons and military technology prolongs the conflict and increases the risk of direct confrontation between Russia and Western countries.

Kyiv, meanwhile, has consistently called on its European allies to strengthen military support, particularly air-defence systems and advanced weapons, as it continues to defend itself against Russian attacks.

The latest Russian warning highlights the growing tensions surrounding Western military assistance to Ukraine, with Moscow viewing the transfer of increasingly advanced technology as a potential escalation of the conflict.
