Safe City takes action against smog and pollution in Punjab

Lahore – Punjab Safe Cities Authority has initiated surveillance and enforcement measures against environmental pollution and smog under the Smog Free Punjab Vision of the Chief Minister Punjab, utilizing modern technology. Through Safe City cameras, drone technology, and advanced surveillance systems, elements contributing to environmental pollution are being identified and relevant departments are being provided timely information for necessary action.

According to details, more than 300 environmental pollution-related violations have been reported through Safe City cameras during the last two days. Upon identification of smoke-emitting vehicles, relevant field forces were alerted, while action was taken against multiple vehicles and e-challans were issued.

Through Safe City’s advanced technology, vehicles carrying uncovered construction material, sand, soil, and other dust-emitting materials are also being identified. Similarly, smoke-emitting factories, industrial units, crop residue burning incidents, and garbage burning activities are being detected through cameras and drones, with reports being shared with relevant departments to ensure timely action.

Information regarding environmental violations from 43 Smart Safe City Centers across Punjab is being promptly shared with concerned departments and field forces. The use of modern technology is further strengthening the identification of activities causing smog and air pollution and improving effective response measures.

According to the spokesperson of Punjab Safe Cities Authority, Safe City is not only working for crime prevention but is also utilizing modern technology for the establishment of a clean and healthy environment. Citizens are urged to immediately report any activity causing smog or environmental pollution by calling Punjab Emergency Helpline 15 so that timely action can be ensured.
