Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani appointed founding chairman of intra-speakers conference

Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani has been appointed the founding chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC) during his recent successful visit to Kuala Lumpur.

Established in Seoul, South Korea, the ISC is an international forum dedicated to promoting parliamentary dialogue, advancing sustainable development goals, and strengthening global cooperation on critical challenges such as climate change, renewable energy, and water scarcity.

During his visit to Kuala Lumpur, Gilani attended a special briefing regarding the upcoming ISC meeting, where he was officially nominated as the founding chairman.

The official nomination ceremony will take place during the 2025 International Summit in Seoul, organized by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). The event will host 500 delegates, including 45 parliamentary speakers from 150 countries.

In recognition of his contributions to parliamentary diplomacy and global peace efforts, Gilani was also presented with a special award. His appointment not only enhances Pakistan’s international parliamentary standing but also fosters regional cooperation and dialogue.

During his address at the briefing session, Gilani emphasized that the ISC is not merely a conference but an international vision based on interdependence, shared prosperity, and global values. He highlighted three priority areas: climate change, renewable energy, and water scarcity.

Calling for global parliamentary leadership, he urged policymakers to transform shared ideas into actionable policies that promote global peace, regional stability, and sustainable development.

Gilani reiterated that the ISC will serve as an effective platform for parliamentary collaboration, policymaking, and diplomatic partnerships at the international level.

Additionally, Gilani held a meeting with the Speaker of Malaysia to discuss enhancing bilateral parliamentary relations and cooperation. Following the discussions, the Malaysian Speaker hosted a dinner in honor of the distinguished guests. Pakistan’s Ambassador, Syed Ahsan Raza, also arranged a special reception to honor Gilani’s appointment.
