Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended greetings to the nation and the Muslim world on the beginning of the new Islamic year. He said the new Hijri year has started with encouraging developments in the Iran–US situation. He described it as a positive sign for global peace and stability. He prayed that the new year brings prosperity, unity, and peace for all humanity.
Muharram 1448 Hijri has officially begun. Ashura will be observed on June 26. The prime minister said the timing of the new Islamic year alongside progress in international diplomacy is a moment of hope and reflection.
He said Pakistan played a constructive role in promoting dialogue between Iran and the United States. He said this engagement helped reduce tensions and move toward a peaceful understanding. He added that diplomacy and reconciliation are in line with Islamic principles and the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
He also highlighted the importance of the Hijrah in Islamic history. He said it laid the foundation of a just society based on equality, brotherhood, and responsibility. He said these values are still relevant for addressing modern-day challenges.
Referring to Muharram, the prime minister said it also reminds Muslims of the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in Karbala. He said Imam Hussain (RA) stood firmly against oppression and injustice. He added that this sacrifice continues to guide Muslims toward truth, courage, and righteousness.
Shehbaz Sharif called for national unity and collective responsibility. He urged citizens to promote honesty, tolerance, and hard work in daily life. He said these values are essential for the progress and stability of Pakistan.
