Sheikh Mohammed arrives in Scotland for 77th birthday celebrations

Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has arrived in Scotland ahead of celebrations marking his 77th birthday, accompanied by an extensive security and travel convoy that has attracted significant local attention.

The Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates traveled to Scotland to spend time at his privately owned Inverinate Estate, a vast 63,000-acre property located in the scenic Scottish Highlands. Birthday celebrations are expected to take place next week, with Sheikh Mohammed reportedly staying at the estate alongside members of his family and close associates.

According to reports, Sheikh Mohammed appeared serious as he arrived at Inverness Airport before making his way to the Highlands. Later, however, he was seen enjoying a walk through the picturesque countryside with family members and companions, taking in the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and landscape.

Reports indicate that the visit is being supported by a substantial logistical operation. Sheikh Mohammed is said to have traveled with a private jet, three helicopters, and a convoy of around 60 vehicles responsible for transportation and security. The fleet reportedly includes numerous Range Rovers and Mercedes-Benz vehicles, reflecting the scale of arrangements made for the visit.

Residents living near the estate have expressed surprise at the unusually large security presence. Some locals told British media they had never witnessed such a significant number of security and support vehicles in the area. The Inverinate Estate, situated on the shores of Loch Duich in the western Highlands, has long served as one of Sheikh Mohammed’s preferred private retreats. The expansive property includes several residential buildings, guest lodges, and three helicopter landing pads, enabling convenient access for visitors and staff. The estate is known for its breathtaking scenery, offering privacy and spectacular views of Scotland’s rugged landscape.

Last year, local authorities approved plans for the construction of additional residential buildings on the estate. Following those developments, some residents remarked that the property is gradually expanding to resemble a small village due to its growing number of structures and facilities. The expansion has further highlighted Sheikh Mohammed’s long-term investment in the area.
