Six killed in Defence car crash case: Court reserves verdict on Afnan’s friends

According to Express News, the Anti-Terrorism Court has reserved its verdict on an application filed by complainant Riffaqat Ali seeking to summon the friends of juvenile suspect Afnan in connection with the case. The court will announce its decision on September 1.

ATC Judge Shahid Sikandar heard the proceedings.

The complainant has already filed an application requesting that Afnan’s friends be summoned and made part of the proceedings in the case.

During the hearing, Riffaqat Ali maintained that the friends of the juvenile suspect were also present in the vehicle with him at the time of the incident. He requested the court to initiate proceedings against them as well.

The parties completed their arguments on the application seeking the inclusion or summoning of additional suspects in the case.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, the court reserved its decision. The verdict will now be announced on September 1.

Juvenile suspect Afnan and his father, Shafqat Ali, also appeared before the court during the hearing.

The case relates to a fatal road incident in Lahore’s Defence area in which six people were killed after a car collided with them. The incident subsequently led to legal proceedings against the juvenile suspect.

The complainant’s latest application seeks to determine whether the individuals who were allegedly accompanying Afnan in the vehicle at the time of the incident should also face proceedings in the case.

The court’s decision on September 1 will determine whether the complainant’s request to summon the juvenile suspect’s friends is accepted.

The proceedings are being closely followed because of the number of fatalities involved and the legal questions surrounding the alleged involvement of additional individuals who were reportedly present in the vehicle.

Further developments in the case are expected after the Anti-Terrorism Court announces its decision on the application.
