ISLAMABAD: Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf made an on-ground inspection of Ghauri Town and other parts of the federal capital during rainfall, directing authorities to ensure swift drainage and zero tolerance for negligence or delays.

During his visit, the CDA chairman reviewed the drainage situation in Ghauri Town and received briefings from field officials regarding ongoing dewatering and relief operations. He also assessed arrangements at vulnerable locations where accumulated rainwater could disrupt traffic and create difficulties for residents.

A special drainage operation is currently underway across Islamabad on the chairman’s directives. Teams from the Capital Development Authority, Emergency and Disaster Management, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad and District Administration have been deployed at various locations to respond to water accumulation and drainage-related complaints.

Officials told the chairman that low-lying areas, interchanges, underpasses and major roads are being continuously monitored during rainfall. Dewatering equipment and operational teams have been stationed at critical points, particularly underpasses, to prevent prolonged water accumulation and keep traffic moving.

Sohail Ashraf directed all concerned officers to remain present in the field and closely monitor vulnerable areas throughout the operation. He warned that negligence or unnecessary delays in removing rainwater would not be tolerated.

The CDA chairman further instructed officials to ensure maximum relief for citizens during and after the rainfall and ordered the immediate removal of garbage, debris and other obstructions blocking drains and water channels.

He stressed that rapid drainage, uninterrupted traffic movement and public safety must remain the administration’s immediate priorities, calling for close coordination among all departments involved in the response.

CDA and District Administration teams are continuing field operations and monitoring complaints from residents, while clean-up, drainage and rehabilitation activities are being carried out simultaneously in affected parts of the capital.

Authorities have also advised citizens to exercise caution during rainfall and avoid low-lying areas, underpasses and locations where water has accumulated.
