Suspect killed in Karachi police encounter, accomplice escapes

A suspected robber was killed while his accomplice managed to escape during a police encounter in New Karachi’s Sector 11-I.

A suspected robber was killed while his accomplice managed to escape during a police encounter in New Karachi’s Sector 11-I.

According to police, officers attempted to stop and check two suspects riding a motorcycle. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police while trying to flee.

The police officer remained safe due to a bulletproof vest. In retaliatory firing, one of the suspects was seriously wounded and arrested. He later succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to a hospital.

Police seized a weapon and the motorcycle from the deceased suspect, who was identified as Miraj, alias Miri.

Police said Miraj’s brother, Mir Balaj, was also killed in a police encounter in Nazimabad in 2024. His father, Ibrahim, had also died after falling from a height during a raid by law enforcement agencies.
