Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has rejected speculation about any deal or concession for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Speaking to reporters at Parliament House, Chaudhry criticised the PTI’s response to discussions surrounding Imran Khan’s health and medical treatment.

He said that instead of expressing relief over reports about Imran Khan’s health, PTI leaders were appearing upset and angry. According to him, some were talking about taking revenge against the government.

Chaudhry said the government’s position was simple. If medical treatment was required, it should be provided to the patient.

He questioned demands for treatment at a particular hospital if there was no medical justification for such a request. He alleged that attempts to use health concerns to seek political relief could be aimed at securing an NRO.

The minister strongly denied reports of any agreement with the PTI. He also rejected the possibility of any relaxation for Imran Khan.

“There is no deal and no concession,” he said, adding that such claims were part of the political narrative being promoted by the PTI.

Chaudhry also spoke at length about Pakistan’s diplomatic position. He said the country was currently witnessing an unprecedented level of diplomatic activity.

He claimed that Pakistan had never experienced such a strong position on the diplomatic front during its 78-year history.

The minister credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for what he described as Pakistan’s growing diplomatic influence.

He expressed hope that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s ongoing diplomatic engagement would produce positive results. He said the success of the efforts could provide relief to the wider region and contribute to regional stability.

Chaudhry also highlighted Pakistan’s role in efforts linked to a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

He said Pakistan had played an important role in the diplomatic process. He added that the international community had acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts.

The minister further commented on the evolving opposition alliance and the participation of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in opposition consultations.

He described Fazlur Rehman as a senior and experienced politician. He also referred to him as an “opposition specialist”.

Chaudhry said Fazlur Rehman’s involvement could help opposition parties understand how to perform their parliamentary role more effectively.
