US journalist Tucker Carlson has raised concerns over the possibility of President Donald Trump considering a nuclear strike against Iran, alleging that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could pressure the US administration into taking such an extreme step.
In a statement posted on social media platform X on November 2, Carlson claimed that Netanyahu was pushing Trump’s close associates to support another military confrontation with Iran as political pressure mounts on the Israeli leader ahead of elections.
According to Carlson, Netanyahu may be seeking renewed military action against Iran to overcome his domestic political difficulties. He alleged that the Israeli prime minister was using his influence within the Trump administration to encourage Washington to take a tougher approach towards Tehran.
Carlson further argued that conventional American weapons might not be sufficient to reach underground tunnel networks and fortified facilities located deep beneath Iran’s mountains. He suggested that this military challenge could bring the possibility of a nuclear option into discussions.
However, Carlson’s remarks represent his own assessment and allegations. No independent confirmation was provided that the Trump administration was considering a nuclear strike against Iran.
The comments have added to growing concerns over the potential escalation of tensions between Washington, Tehran and Tel Aviv, particularly as questions remain about Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and the future of diplomatic efforts.
The controversy follows Trump’s recent remarks claiming that American strikes had destroyed Iran’s nuclear programme. He said only one or two locations, including Pickax Mountain, remained to be dealt with, adding that addressing them would take approximately 10 minutes.
Trump’s statement has renewed attention on the extent of the damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities and Washington’s assessment of the remaining sites.
Carlson’s warning also highlights concerns about the consequences of further military escalation in the region. Any nuclear attack would carry devastating humanitarian, environmental and geopolitical consequences, potentially extending far beyond Iran’s borders.
While there has been no official announcement confirming plans for a nuclear strike, the journalist’s allegations have intensified the debate over the direction of US policy towards Iran and the influence of Israel’s leadership on Washington’s decisions.
