British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott has warned Pakistani citizens to stay away from illegal agents who mislead people with false promises of asylum, settlement, and financial opportunities in the United Kingdom.
She said many unauthorized agents exploit vulnerable individuals by claiming they can secure UK visas, asylum, or permanent residency in exchange for money. According to her, these claims are false and often result in financial loss and legal problems for applicants.
Jane Marriott expressed concern over the rising number of asylum applications from Pakistani nationals. She said many of these cases are influenced by misinformation spread by illegal facilitators rather than genuine eligibility.
She stressed that all visa and asylum applications should only be submitted through official UK government online systems. She urged people not to trust unregistered agents operating outside legal frameworks.
The envoy warned that falling for such scams can damage future chances of legal travel and immigration. She said people should verify all information before making any application or payment.
She also said awareness campaigns are being strengthened to guide people about safe and legal migration routes. The UK government, she added, is taking strict action against networks involved in human smuggling and fraudulent migration activities.
Jane Marriott further highlighted that the UK offers fully funded scholarship programs for Pakistani students. She said these opportunities are available only through official channels and should not be accessed through agents.
She noted that many Pakistani students study in the UK through proper procedures and later return home, where they contribute to national development with their skills and education.
