University canteen sealed after student death in Bahawalpur campus

A student of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur died after collapsing during transfer to hospital. He had reportedly fallen unconscious inside the university

A student of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur died after collapsing during transfer to hospital. He had reportedly fallen unconscious inside the university premises before being shifted for medical treatment.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the student was moving from the university canteen towards another campus area when he suddenly became unwell and collapsed. Emergency teams were immediately called to the scene and provided first aid before transferring him to hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

Rescue officials further stated that the student had eaten food from the university canteen and also consumed a cold drink shortly before his condition deteriorated. However, the exact cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed.

Following the incident, The Islamia University of Bahawalpur administration issued a statement confirming that the canteen has been sealed as a precautionary measure. The administration said that a formal investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances leading to the student’s sudden death.

Authorities added that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure transparency in the inquiry, while further details will be shared once medical and forensic reports are received.
