Urwa Hocane reveals Umera Ahmed’s surprising call after Aap Ki Izzat

Pakistani actress Urwa Hocane has opened up about a memorable moment following her performance in the drama Aap Ki Izzat. The actress revealed that the project’s writer, Umera Ahmed, personally called her to congratulate her on her work. Urwa described the conversation as a major compliment that left her surprised and deeply honoured.

Urwa shared the experience during an appearance on journalist Maliha Rehman’s YouTube show. Speaking about the response to Aap Ki Izzat, she recalled receiving a call from Umera Ahmed, who praised her performance and expressed confidence that she could receive awards for her work that year.

According to Urwa, Umera congratulated her and asked whether she was ready to receive awards. The actress said the words meant a great deal to her, particularly because they came from a writer whose work she greatly respects. She admitted that she found it difficult to believe she was receiving such appreciation directly from Ahmed.

Urwa also spoke about the overwhelming response she received from viewers after the drama aired. She said the love and appreciation from the audience had been extraordinary and remained difficult for her to fully comprehend. The actress explained that she continued to think about Umera Ahmed’s encouraging words long after their conversation.

Discussing the importance of recognition, Urwa clarified that she respects awards and values the achievements she and her husband, singer and actor Farhan Saeed, have received throughout their careers. However, she stressed that the affection and appreciation expressed directly by audiences hold a special place in her heart.

For Urwa, the response to her performance in Aap Ki Izzat became particularly meaningful because of the personal encouragement she received from the drama’s writer. She described the audience’s love as a reward in itself, emphasising that genuine appreciation can be just as significant as formal recognition.

In Aap Ki Izzat, Urwa portrayed Beena, a woman who seeks revenge on her husband after discovering his infidelity. The character offered her an opportunity to explore a strong and emotionally challenging role, which attracted considerable attention from viewers.

Urwa began her career in the entertainment industry as a video jockey before establishing herself as a television actress. She has appeared in several popular dramas, including Udaari, Parizaad, Amanat, Mushk and Meri Shehzadi.
