WASHINGTON: US Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neil Vance.

In a joint statement, the couple announced that their son was born on Sunday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland. They said both mother and baby are in good health, while their three older children are delighted to welcome their new brother.

JD Vance and Usha first met while studying at Yale Law School and married in 2014. They are already parents to three children: sons Evan and Vivek, and daughter Mira Bell.

According to the White House Historical Association, Alec Neil Vance is the first child born to a sitting US vice president in more than 150 years. The last such birth took place in 1870 during the tenure of Vice President Schuyler Colfax.

Before entering politics, JD Vance served in the US Navy and has frequently spoken about the country’s declining birth rate. During the 2025 March for Life rally, he called for policies that encourage larger families and said he hoped to see more children born in the United States.
