Victories can restore Pakistan cricket’s reputation, Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has said the country’s cricketing reputation can only be restored through consistent performances and victories on the field, as debate continues over the team’s disappointing tour of England.

Speaking about the situation surrounding Pakistan’s squad and coaching staff, Yousuf said the issue was bigger than simply recalling or replacing players and coaches.

He pointed to the broader instability surrounding Pakistan cricket, arguing that repeated disputes and internal problems have distracted attention from the game itself.

“We are not sending legends like Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq or Saeed Anwar as replacements,” Yousuf said, highlighting the difficulty of finding instant solutions to the team’s problems.

The former captain’s comments came as Pakistan cricket faces renewed scrutiny following a difficult England tour and a series of controversial decisions involving the national team.

Yousuf said the current situation reflected internal disagreements, instability and conflicts that have repeatedly affected Pakistan cricket.

However, Yousuf believes lasting improvement will depend on Pakistan producing consistent performances rather than relying solely on administrative decisions.
