According to a report, WhatsApp is working on a major update for the web version of the messaging platform. WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp is currently testing a customizable chat themes feature for WhatsApp Web.
The report stated that the feature is still under development but the company is significantly improving the WhatsApp Web experience. Usually, the Meta-owned messaging app does not focus heavily on personalization features in WhatsApp Web.
At present, WhatsApp Web mainly focuses on messaging functionality while interface customization features receive less attention. However, according to the new report, the upcoming chat themes will allow users to change message bubble colours, wallpapers and chat backgrounds directly within the web browser.
The feature will reportedly be available in the Chat Theme section within WhatsApp Web settings enabling users to apply different themes for individual chats. There is also a possibility that the option will appear on the Chat Info page making it easier to customize themes for specific conversations.
WhatsApp is expected to prepare around 40 to 50 themes for the web version. These themes will remain visible only to the user applying them and other participants in the chat will not be able to see the selected theme.
As mentioned above, the feature is still under development so it is difficult to say when it will be officially released.
