Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is reportedly being considered to replace Sarfaraz Ahmed as the head coach of Pakistan’s Test team.
According to reports, Sarfaraz Ahmed who was appointed Test head coach in April this year could be removed from the position. Sarfaraz began his coaching tenure with the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Bangladesh went on to whitewash Pakistan 2–0 in the Test series and also defeated Pakistan in the home series.
Sources say that Younis Khan is currently the leading candidate for the Test coaching role while Sarfaraz Ahmed is expected to continue working with the Pakistan Shaheens team. It is worth noting that the Pakistan Cricket Board has not yet officially confirmed any changes to the coaching setup.
Earlier, Ahmed Shehzad had opposed Sarfaraz Ahmed’s appointment as head coach. He argued that Sarfaraz moved from franchise cricket to the Pakistan Cup then served as a mentor in junior cricket later joined the selection committee and was eventually appointed head coach despite having no prior experience in the role.
