Police in Karachi have arrested 10 Afghan nationals for allegedly residing in Pakistan without valid legal documents during a crackdown on undocumented foreign nationals. Authorities also detained a warehouse owner accused of providing them with accommodation without completing the required legal verification process.
According to a spokesperson for District Malir Police, the arrests were made during a raid conducted by Sharafi Goth Police at a warehouse located in Ismail Goth. The operation was carried out after police received information from confidential sources regarding the presence of undocumented foreign nationals at the premises.
The detained Afghan nationals were identified as Owais, Abdul Rahman, Ismail, Shamsuddin, Ehsanullah, Habibullah, Sher Khan, Asim, Ataullah, and Mohammad Khan.
Police officials stated that none of the arrested individuals possessed valid documents permitting them to stay in Pakistan. Following the operation, Sharafi Goth Police registered a case against the suspects under the Foreigners Act. The investigation is expected to determine the duration of their stay and whether any additional legal violations were committed.
Authorities also arrested the warehouse owner, identified as Akhtar, for allegedly providing temporary accommodation to the undocumented individuals without obtaining the required legal documentation or completing the mandatory verification process. A separate case has been registered against him under the Temporary Residence Act.
The arrests are part of the ongoing campaign by law enforcement agencies against undocumented foreign nationals residing in different parts of the country. Officials say the operation aims to ensure compliance with immigration laws and strengthen the verification process for individuals staying in Pakistan without legal authorization.
Police have urged property owners, landlords, and business operators to verify the identity and legal status of individuals before offering accommodation or employment. Authorities warned that legal action may be taken against anyone found violating the relevant laws governing the residence of foreign nationals.
The arrested individuals remain in police custody, and further legal proceedings will be carried out in accordance with applicable immigration and criminal laws. Officials have not released additional details regarding possible deportation or other administrative action, stating that the matter will proceed through the legal process after the investigation is completed.
