QUETTA: Security forces have killed 11 terrorists during separate intelligence-based operations in Kharan and Washuk districts of Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In Kharan, security forces launched an immediate response after terrorists attempted to create a roadblock and disrupt traffic in the area. Troops engaged the militants and killed eight terrorists during the operation.
In a separate operation in Washuk, security forces acted on intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists in the area. Troops targeted a suspected hideout and engaged the militants in an intense exchange of fire.
As a result, three terrorists were killed and the hideout was destroyed, the ISPR said.
Security forces also recovered around 2.9 tonnes of explosives from the site. According to the statement, the material was being used for the preparation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The recovery of such a large quantity of explosives is considered significant, as the material could have been used to carry out attacks and target security personnel or civilians.
Following the operations, security forces launched sanitisation activities in the surrounding areas to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.
