KALAT: Security forces have killed 12 terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kalat district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The operation was launched on September 2 after intelligence reports indicated the presence of terrorists in the area. Security personnel tracked the suspected hideout and carried out an operation against the militants, ISPR said in a statement issued on Friday.

According to the military’s media wing, all 12 terrorists identified as members of the group referred to by the state as Fitna al-Hindustan were killed during the action.

A quantity of ammunition and improvised explosive devices was also recovered and destroyed at the site, the statement said.

Security forces were conducting a sanitisation operation in the surrounding area to locate any remaining militants and ensure the area was cleared of further threats.

ISPR said the operation was part of the ongoing counterterrorism campaign being conducted under Azm-e-Istehkam, which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. The military said security forces and law-enforcement agencies would continue operations against terrorism across the country.

Balochistan has remained one of the major theatres of militant violence in Pakistan, alongside Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities have repeatedly reported attacks on civilians, security personnel and state installations in different parts of the province.

The latest operation comes amid a broader increase in militant activity in Pakistan. Data cited from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data (ACLED) indicates that reported attacks increased substantially between 2022 and 2025, with militant violence affecting several parts of the country.

Security forces have continued intelligence-based operations against militant networks in Balochistan and other provinces in an effort to disrupt attacks and dismantle their infrastructure.
