Twenty-one police personnel have been suspended in Rahim Yar Khan over allegations of corruption and misuse of official authority, District Police Officer (DPO) Irfan Ali Samo said.

According to the DPO, the police department has also launched formal departmental proceedings against the suspended personnel. The action follows allegations of misconduct and corruption involving the officials, although the final outcome will depend on the ongoing departmental inquiries.

DPO Irfan Ali Samo said the department would take action against officers and employees found involved in corrupt practices or the misuse of their powers. He stressed that no official would receive preferential treatment and that disciplinary measures would apply regardless of rank or position.

Samo said maintaining public confidence in the police force remains a key priority. He directed officials to perform their duties in accordance with the law and avoid any conduct that could undermine the credibility of the department.

The DPO further emphasized the importance of merit, transparency and accountability in police operations. He said the district police would take all necessary steps to ensure that citizens receive fair treatment and that officials exercise their powers responsibly.

He reiterated that the police would continue monitoring the conduct of its personnel and would respond firmly to complaints or evidence of wrongdoing. The departmental proceedings against the 21 suspended personnel will determine whether further disciplinary action is warranted.

The move reflects the Rahim Yar Khan police leadership’s stated efforts to strengthen internal accountability, curb corruption and promote professional standards within the force.
