Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed that maintaining peace and security during Ashura is the provincial government’s highest priority. He emphasized that every available resource is being utilized to safeguard the lives and property of the public during the observance of the 10th of Muharram, one of the most significant days in the Islamic calendar.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, visited the Central Police Office in Quetta to review the overall security arrangements for Muharram. During the visit, they closely monitored the security situation across various districts of Balochistan, paying particular attention to the processions and religious gatherings being held on the 10th of Muharram.

Senior police officials briefed the Chief Minister and the Corps Commander on the comprehensive security plan that had been put in place to ensure the peaceful conduct of Ashura-related activities. Inspector General (IG) of Police informed the officials that approximately 32,000 police personnel had been deployed throughout Balochistan for security duties during the 9th and 10th of Muharram. The deployment is part of an extensive strategy aimed at protecting mourners, maintaining public order, and preventing any untoward incidents.

The briefing further highlighted that the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, along with other law enforcement and security agencies, is working in close coordination with the police. These agencies are jointly conducting surveillance, securing sensitive locations, monitoring procession routes, and responding promptly to any security concerns. The collaborative effort reflects the government’s commitment to providing a safe environment for religious observances.

During the visit, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti commended the dedication and professionalism of police officers, FC personnel, and members of other security institutions performing their duties on Ashura. He praised their tireless efforts, acknowledging that maintaining law and order during large-scale religious gatherings requires exceptional vigilance, discipline, and coordination.

The Chief Minister stated that the provincial administration remains fully committed to protecting citizens and ensuring that mourners can observe Ashura peacefully. He stressed that all available government resources, including security personnel, surveillance systems, emergency response units, and administrative support, have been mobilized to ensure public safety throughout the province.

He also emphasized that maintaining religious harmony and protecting citizens’ constitutional right to practice their faith peacefully are fundamental responsibilities of the government. The administration, he said, is continuously monitoring the situation and remains prepared to respond swiftly to any challenge that may arise during the observance of Muharram.

The visit to the Central Police Office underscored the provincial government’s proactive approach to security management during one of the country’s most sensitive religious occasions. Through close coordination between the police, Frontier Corps, and other law enforcement agencies, authorities aim to ensure that all processions and religious gatherings conclude peacefully and without disruption.

Concluding his remarks, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti reiterated that ensuring peace on Ashura remains the government’s foremost priority. He expressed confidence in the professionalism of the security forces and appreciated their unwavering commitment to protecting the people of Balochistan. He assured the public that the government would continue to take every possible measure to maintain law and order and guarantee the safety of all citizens throughout the holy occasion.
