NAB Lahore holds Open Court on directions of DG NAB Lahore

LAHORE: Hundreds of people turned to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore on Friday as the anti-graft watchdog held its monthly Open Court to hear complaints involving alleged housing scams, financial fraud and other public grievances.

The Open Court was held on the directions of Director General NAB Lahore Mirza Faran Baig, with senior investigation officers attending the session and listening directly to affected citizens.

According to a press release issued by NAB Lahore, around 350 people participated in the Open Court. A significant majority were reportedly affectees of allegedly fraudulent housing schemes and financial scams who sought action and relief over their long-standing complaints.

Among the cases brought before the bureau were complaints linked to Bismillah Garden, Al-Noor Orchard, Al-Jalil Garden, SA Garden, Omega Residencia, Mid City, Dream Housing, Eden Housing, Elite Town, Pak-Arab Housing Scheme, New Lahore City and Zaitoon Group.

Senior Officers Hear Complaints

The participation of senior investigation officials was aimed at ensuring that complainants could directly present their concerns before the authorities handling such matters.

On the DG’s instructions, senior directors from NAB Lahore’s investigation wings attended the Open Court and heard the grievances of the affectees.

Officials were directed to examine each complaint strictly on merit and take appropriate action in accordance with the law.

The instructions are significant for complainants who have been pursuing cases involving alleged financial losses and disputed housing projects. For many affectees, such proceedings provide an opportunity to place their concerns directly before senior officials rather than relying solely on routine complaint channels.

Focus on Housing Frauds

Housing schemes and property-related financial disputes have remained a recurring source of complaints before accountability and law-enforcement institutions. Investors and prospective homeowners can face substantial financial losses when projects are allegedly delayed, misrepresented or otherwise fail to meet commitments.

The large turnout at Friday’s Open Court reflected the continuing demand among affected citizens for quicker resolution of such disputes.

NAB Lahore said the complaints would be dealt with according to their legal and factual merits, with concerned officers instructed to pursue necessary action.

NAB Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy

The bureau reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights of affectees, addressing public grievances and ensuring timely action within the framework of law.

NAB Lahore also reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against corruption and public fraud, saying strict legal action would be taken against individuals found involved in corrupt practices or defrauding citizens.

The Open Court forms part of the bureau’s efforts to provide a direct channel between the public and its investigation authorities.

For the hundreds who attended, the key question now is whether the complaints heard during the session will translate into timely investigations, accountability and relief.
