KARAK: Four suspected militants belonging to the Commander Zahid group were killed during a joint intelligence-based operation conducted by Karak and Kohat police on the Karak-Kohat border, officials said on Friday.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Karak Imran Chitrali, the operation was launched in the Khattak Dam area after intelligence reports about the presence of militants. As police teams moved into the area, the suspects opened fire, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire. All four militants were killed in the operation.

Police said the slain militants were allegedly involved in several terrorist attacks, including the killings of SHO Banda Umar Nawaz of Karak and Inspector Tahir Nawaz of Kohat in 2025, as well as DSP Asad Mehmood, Sub-Inspector Anar Gul and other police personnel in 2026.

Authorities said efforts are underway to confirm the identities of the deceased militants and gather further details about their criminal backgrounds.

Following the operation, DPO Karak Imran Chitrali and SP Saddar Kohat Ehsan Shah visited the site and supervised an ongoing search operation to ensure the area was fully secured.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to continuing operations against terrorist groups and anti-state elements to maintain peace and security in the region.
